Referral process to Hospital

CLARENDON LODGE MEDICAL PRACTICE

OPERATES A REFERRAL SUPPORT SCHEME

 

This means that all non-urgent referrals are discussed confidentially with other GPs at your surgery before they are sent on to the hospital. Please note urgent referrals will be immediatly sent to the relevant department. 

 

Sometimes a more effective approach is found after clinical discussion and a long wait for hospital care can be avoided. 

 

Your GP will discuss their preferred treatment plan with you in your appointment and you will be contacted after the meeting if an improved plan is developed.

 

This meeting will happen within 5 working days of your GP appointment so will not cause any significant delays to your referral. 

 

If you are being referred through the electronic referral system (Choose and Book) - please come into the surgery to collect your booking paperwork after 2pm on the following Monday. 

 

Please ensure you bring photographic ID with you to present to our reception staff.
