Reception: Low Folate Information Form

If you did NOT receive a text explaining that we found a low folate (folic acid) level in your recent blood test then please ignore this page and DO NOT complete the form below.

As outlined in your text we have found that your folic acid levels are low. The main cause of folate deficiency is poor intake. We only store a small amount of folate in our bodies there is it important we maintain a good dietary intake.

Good food sources of folate include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, peas, chickpeas and brown rice. Other useful sources include fortified breakfast cereals, beans, some bread and some fruit (such as oranges and bananas).

It is important you make the necessary changes to your diet as a persistently low folate can cause issues with your health including anaemia, issues with conception & the developing fetus, Cardiovascular disease and much more. For more information click here.
